How to become 001 in NYSC Campus
I went to camp on the 14th of February 2024. So, we are actually supposed to be there from the 15th of February 2024. I went there a day before the date, not actually for the position or whatever, just that I like going early, even in my schools and when I was posted to my PPA. I went earlier that time, and then I was the first person to arrive.
Furthermore, I met with the security. No one was even in the camp; no students or graduates were even in the camp. It was just me and the security members there.
I was welcomed by the security members. I didn’t actually know about NYSC 001, like I’ve gotten a lot of tutorials and information before going to the campus, but I didn’t actually have in mind about it.
They have to show me my room. The room is like a hostel. Within that night, two more guys came, so we were three that slept in the room on the 14th of February 2024 in the male hostel. I don’t know much about the female host much, but I saw like around two or five thereabouts that night.
So let me just head straight to how I was given the 001 number. So on the main day, which is the 15th of February 2024. We were all seated when we were asked to line up. So some ladies, like three or four of them, just lined up before the guys, and then we joined them at the back.
So after a few seconds, the woman in charge asked them to drop while we guys would come. Probably it’s because we helped in carrying the chairs. So, that was how I got the 001 number.
Three Key Points if You Want to Become a 001 in NYSC Camp
- Travel early.
- Dress Smartly
- Greet Camp Officials
- Travel Early: It can be probably a day before the date, or just very early. Make sure you have the complete documents, and stay prepared when you travel. Also, don’t forget to wake up in time and visit the registration arena. In all you do, the earlier, the better.
- Dress smartly and look very nice: They won’t just give 001 to someone that looks tattered, or doesn’t just look nice at all. You have to just look moderate. You don’t need to dress too fine. Just look moderate.
- Greet Camp Officials: Yes, when you see them passing, you greet them. You don’t just do it because you want the number, or you want something else. You have to greet an elder; they are all probably older than you are. So while in the camp, make sure you greet them and be friendly if required. Whether you’re offered any special number or not, you have to respect them. Respect is reciprocal. So make sure you greet them.

Just be closer to the 001 number. Like, people will be wondering, Ah, where you guys chased out of home? How were you guys able to get here so fast? You know, having this kind of number. So nice.
